Gran Canaria seems made for cyclists in many ways. The wonderful stable climate. The spectacular variety of climbs. The sinuous flowing descents. The breathtaking landscapes that can change every few kilometres.
Here there is another reason: it's 200km around the border: the double metric century distance that is covered in many sportives and gran fondos. This presents a challenge that is at once tough, but well within the reach of the determined cyclist.
There are of course many different routes by which to go: all of which have now been made harder by the closure of the coastal road between Taurito and Puerto de Mogan. We guide you on the most scenic route, avoiding the busiest parts of traffic near the capital city, Las Palmas.
