Merida Scultura Disc 7000-E Review

A review without the phrase laterally stiff and vertically compliant...

Since our new Merida Scultura Disc 7000-E rental bikes are here- it would be rude not to take one for a test spin - especially since one of the first was in just my size...!

Glossy-sheened in two hues of blue, it evokes the clear sky, the deep sea, and captures our palette of colours perfectly.

Our new 2020 Merida Scultura 7000-E rental bike. Your ideal companion to enjoy the streets of Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria is one large, roughed and eroded volcanic cone, and thus the roads that snake over it are almost invariably climbing or descending. A comfortable position is invaluable for these prolonged ascents, so the more relaxed CF2 geometry of this frame is an ideal companion. Combined with the leg-saving 11-34 cassette, you can carry that smile over each crest, as the views you have earned yourself expand before you.

The carbon frame is outfitted with the incontrovertible Ultegra 8070 Di2 groupset, and rolls on a DT Swiss P1800 Spline DB23 wheelset. The disc brakes grant confidence to tackle each successive whooshing bend downhill on the way home, and our test ride took us over one of the most fantastic asphalt meanders you are likely to find anywhere: pure bliss!

The only complaint is the bike leaves few scapegoats for faltering legs... Don't take our word for it, see you in the sunny Gran Canaria for a spin :)
